Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held Express Entry draw #449 on October 15, 2026 — a Canadian Experience Class (CEC)–only round. 2,500 candidates with Canadian work experience received invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 519.

This was the 61st Express Entry draw of 2026.

One day late — not a broken pattern

The round arrived a day later than expected. CEC draws had been running roughly every two weeks through the summer and fall, so when no draw materialized on October 14, it was fair to wonder whether the rhythm had shifted. It had not — the invitations simply landed one morning later than the pattern suggested.

The extra day came with a larger draw. At 2,500 invitations, this is the largest CEC round since August 5 — and 500 more invitations than the September 29 round.

Cut-off holds at 519

The minimum CRS of 519 is one point above the September 29 round (2,000 invitations at CRS 518) and identical to the September 15 round (2,000 invitations at CRS 519). Recent CEC-only rounds looked like this:

  • October 15, 2026: 2,500 ITAs at CRS 519
  • September 29, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 518
  • September 15, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 519
  • September 1, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 521
  • August 5, 2026: 3,000 ITAs at CRS 516

The stability is the story. Even as draw sizes move between 2,000 and 3,000 invitations, the CEC cut-off has stayed within a narrow band for months — hovering around 516–523 since the summer. For candidates sitting at 520 or above, the bar is predictable; the main risk is timing, not a sudden jump.

That stability comes with a warning underneath it. As of October 12, 21,638 candidates in the Express Entry pool held CRS scores between 501 and 600 — up from 13,860 in April. Competition is thickening in exactly the band where CEC cut-offs land, which is why an extra 500 invitations was not enough to move the cut-off down this time.

What this means if you are in the pool

CEC rounds reward people already working in Canada — Canadian work experience is the foundation of this category. If your CRS sits between 519 and 530, you are in the zone where CEC rounds invite candidates regularly. Below 516, the options narrow: raise the score (a language retake, additional work experience, a stronger credential assessment) or pursue a provincial nomination.

If you received an invitation in this round, you have 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence application. Before filing, make sure every document supports the information in your Express Entry profile — mismatches between a profile and the supporting evidence are one of the most common sources of refusal or delay.
